The Monsters Are Due On CrayonBeats (part 3)
Good morning, readers! I am proud to announce that the third part in my The Monsters Are Due On CrayonBeats compilation series is out TODAY. If you aren’t familiar with this concept compilation series that I have curated, let me briefly explain what it is.
As an 80’s baby and a child of the 90s, I read the Goosebumps books as a kid and, boy, did a lot of them scare me. In my years, I’ve also seen all of The Twilight Zone episodes, and continue to watch the series when it marathons during holidays. Similarly, they are really cool, innovative creations that tell tales involving themes of horror, thriller, science fiction, fantasy, comedy and beyond–they take your mind into strange and scary situations that are based on dream and reality.
Long before I started this series, I always thought it would be really cool to hear a batch of music that was solely inspired by the stories that Rod Serling and R.L. Stine brought to life. What started as an idea and turned into a reality that I made happen (with the help of the musicians that come on this journey with me in each release), I started with the first in 2012, and here we are with the THIRD part (or volume, or installment, or whatever you want to call it)!
With that said, each artist involved in this series are always challenged with a creative assignment of writing/recording a brand new, CrayonBeats exclusive song that’s inspired by a story from the Goosebumps books OR an episode from The Twilight Zone. Also like the prior two installments (go listen and download those, too!), each artist had creative freedom as to which direction they wanted to take it and how much inspiration they’d take from the stories. Here with me on this compilation are: California-based DJ/producer DJ Halo, California-based producer Llyght Stevens, New Jersey-based rapper/producer AJ, Maine-based rapper/producer Nomar Slevik, California-based rapper/producer Maclane, Maryland-based rapper MC Bravado, California-based producer B.O.O.K.S. One, and California-based producer Kalva Won.
This compilation brings together more instrumentals than vocal tracks, in comparison to the other two releases, so I hope you like what you hear! Stream the compilation in its entirety in the player below (or at the Bandcamp link provided), and then download for FREE. Because, as always, these compilations (and any compilations that we’ve released), are available for free digital download. We do not receive any monetary gain from them, as they are for fun and enjoyment. Spread the word. Share the music. Thank you for everything.
