Two Tiffanys celebrating what they love by giving it a stage and using their voices to spread the word.

Madi Diaz – “Stay Together” video

(@madidiaz #pop)
This song by Los Angeles-based indie pop singer-songwriter Madi Diaz came out last year, but I just heard it yesterday, soooo I’m posting it! You know how we do at CrayonBeats. It’s never too late to get put onto good music. Madi Diaz has been in the music scene since she was 16, when she began composing music. In her college years, she was a band called Talk Radio, before branching off as a solo artist. She released her debut album, Skin And Bone, in 2007, followed it with a couple of EPs in 2009 and 2011, and then she released two full-length albums in 2012 (all of which can be found at iTunes).

Childish Gambino – “So Into You” (Tamia cover)

Childish Gambino recently did a live performance cover of Tamia‘s classic R&B song “So Into You“, for Triple J‘s Like A Version segment. I got goosebumps the moment he began singing, and knew that I had to share it here. I remember when that song and video originally came out, so hearing it again, after not hearing it for several years, brought a real big, happy smile to my face; especially hearing it performed so beautifully by Childish Gambino.

CB Question of the Week: What drives you to create?

This post is for the second question in our Q&A series, called Question of the Week. As you may already know, we will be posting a single question to our social media sites every Sunday, inviting anyone who wants to answer and/or share their experiences. If you missed our first question and the responses we shared, check that out right here (feel free to answer the question in the comments, if you missed it and want to join in).

This Q&A series is our way of getting in touch with creative people worldwide–we want to open the conversation to anyone who wants to join in, not just to those that we already know and have written about on our website. We want to get a glimpse into your life and who you are, while also aiming to inspire and uplift other people who might be able to relate and/or absorb what others are saying.

Ann One: #WhatULike [VIDEO]

#NEWmusic | @AnnOneMusic | #GrownAndSexy

This is for the repeat session…and the grown and sexy. I feel like Ann One is here to remind us that sensual R&B music isn’t dead, no matter what the youngsters try to tell you. WhatULike is very sexy, no doubt as the video illustrates, but as Ann is a master of classy slow jams, you can listen to this in public without feeling dirty, even as your mind wanders off to impure thoughts. The song will be featured on her upcoming EP Butterfly Knife. Listen below and be prepared to be seduced:

Sarah-Jane: Letter To The Moon

@SarahJaneMusiq | #SuperMoon | #LunarEclipse

I feel it’s only right that I post Sarah-Jane‘s soulful ode to the moon as tonight we anticipate the Lunar Eclipse, Super Moon & Blood Moon. Released in late summer, Letter To The Moon has been in heavy rotation on what seems to be every platform in The Netherlands and its easy to see why. Her voice is like so perfect, soulful and satisfying, like audio home-cookin’ to sooth your soul. I’ve been low key obsessed with her music since posting her song Psychedelic Love last summer. I only say “low key” because my inner hipster is fighting to keep her amazingness all to myself. In Letter To The Moon, SJ sings to the sky her love and if you’ve been missing some neo soul funk in your life, you’re definitely going to want to hit play. Sarah-Jane is one of those artists the take you there. Check her out:

CB Question of the Week: What have you had to sacrifice?

(#questionoftheweek) Last Sunday, we began a brand new Q&A series that we are holding through the CrayonBeats social media accounts. Appropriately called "Question of the Week", this series finds us conducting...

Pentatonix: Where Are Ü Now [VIDEO]

Yesterday PTX released their official cover/video of “Where Are Ãœ Now,”originally by JACK Ãœ (Skrillex & Diplo) featuring Justin Bieber. I actually hadn’t realized I’d heard the original version until I set out to make this post because I’m not an active listener of either three artists (meaning I didn’t know they were the original artists nor did I know the title of the song). Pentatonix, of course came through with their acapella voodoo magic, creating a fresh new version (that’s insanely addictive) for our enjoyment. As per, it’s best to listen with headphones so you can hear ever little nuance and marvel at the fact there are ONLY 5 VOICES going on here:

I clicked play on a song by Black Honey today, called “Corrine”, and about 20 seconds in, they had me as an intrigued fan. I clicked “like” and “repost” on Soundcloud, and began my who-are-they search, so I could share them with you! Having formed in mid-2014, Black Honey is an, indie rock band from Brighton, UK, that’s led by front-woman Izzy Bee Phillips, along with 3 cool dudes rocking out on the instruments, named Christ Ostler, Tommy Taylor, and Tom Dewhurst.

Ironlak Strikers – CHEO

(#CHEO #ironlak)
In efforts to help promote the Ironlak Strikers Tri-Grip Twin Markers, British artist CHEO is featured in this time-lapse art video. Muppet-like CHEO gets lost in a daydream, where he sees himself, banging out an awesome, colorful illustration of two pen-wielding, tough-looking sharks. It’s fun and inspiring to watch a talented artist get busy and create really cool art, so check it out below, if you haven’t already seen it.

Vida Killz – “Untitled” video

On World Prevention Suicide Day (September 10th), San Jose-based emcee Vida Killz dropped a music video that she had been working on for a long time. Over the course of several months, she had been collecting photos from anyone on the internet who wanted to participate, asking people to write positive words of encouragement or a special message to a loved one, and then to email it in to her. She printed several of the photos and shared them in the self-directed video to her very personal song, “Untitled“.

Tuxedo – “The Right Time” (M+M 80’s classic mix)

(@tuxedo @johnthemixer)
I clicked play on this remix of Tuxedo‘s already-funky jam “The Right Time”, and fell in love all over again. John Morales (aka M+M, when partnered with Sergio Munzibai) is a DJ and mixer who helped to pioneer the use of editing for dance floor remixes of records in the 1980s, but got his start as a DJ in the ’70s. He has mixed and remixed projects for artists such as Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, Hall & Oats, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, DeBarge, Harold Faltermeyer, and many others.

The Lions – “Magnificent Dance” (ft Black Shakespeare) video

I was put onto the Los Angeles reggae-inspired soul band The Lions today, and now I find myself going through their music. I love getting put onto music that gets me excited enough to seek out more. But, let me make this post based on where I started, when I saw the music video for their song “Magnificent Dance”, which is a fun, dance-ready, dub cover of The Clash’s “Magnificent Seven”. Intriguing already, right?!
