Déjà Mae – “Sun Babies” (Eric Wright remix)

The Los Angeles singer/songwriter Déjà Mae released her debut album Through the Half-Dark earlier this year. She also has made a career in acting and stunt-doubling, and you might’ve seen her in episodes of series such as Desperate Housewives, Southland, and Brooklyn Nine Nine.

Stepping away from that to work on new music, the sultry singer switched up her indie pop/lounge style of music for more of an electronic vibe. She has given her listeners a different side of her with her latest offering where she enlisted Eric Wright to remix her “Sun Babies” single. Stripping away the piano and acoustic guitar, Eric makes her vocals sound haunting as they pierce through a dark beat made up of delicate percussion, waves of synth, snapping snares, bits of glitch, and a heavy, warping bassline. From Bandcamp: “It’s a lot like the OG Sun Babies BUT MORE LIKE ENDLESS SUMMER TYPE FUN WHILE IN A POOL, EATING NACHOS, AND FLOATIN’ IN AN INNER TUBE”
