About CrayonBeats

Where It All Began

THIS IS A STORY ALL ABOUT HOW OUR BLOG GOT FLIPPED, TURNED UPSIDE DOWN…

OUR STORY

Officially, CrayonBeats was born in 2006 when the two Tiffanys created a space to share and introduce readers to our favorite music and visual artists. Over the years, the personal blog transitioned into an entertainment website and magazine with exclusive interviews, unbiased reviews, and unique spotlight posts that focused on independent artists from the Americas, Africa, Europe, and Asia. From then on, CrayonBeats established a standard and we gained respect for our sincere, well-written and personal, yet journalistic, writing styles.

OUR MISSION

With a foundation built over a span of nearly 10 years, we are now bringing CrayonBeats out of the digital realm and into the real world with our magazine, live events, showcases, and more. As we have always aimed to do, our mission is to bring awareness to independent musicians and artists, in fun and creative ways. This next step will be a huge milestone in our journey, and we hope you will join us along the way.

2006 - CRAYONBEATS WAS BORN

If it weren’t for Myspace, CrayonBeats would’ve never been born and our universes would’ve stayed parallel and never crossed. Shout out to Tom.

2013 - CRAYONBEATS MAGAZINE AND SHOP

We started our own magazine and online shop, because we could! CrayonBeats Magazine issue #1 released in digital and print.

2010 - CRAYONBEATS COMPILATIONS

We dropped the first of our compilation mixtape series in 2010, and went on to release 8 more over the years.

2016 - IT WASN'T THAT BAD OF A YEAR

Overall, the year wasn’t all that–we even put the blog on hiatus. However, we did meet in person for the first time!

2013 - WE'RE OFFICIAL

The time had come to move on up, so we took the necessary steps to become a licensed business!

2017 - TO INFINITY AND BEYOND

The first CrayonBeats experience is in the works. We’re so excited and we just can’t hide it!

FAQ

Why the name "CrayonBeats"?

CrayonBeats is named after a single by AI, called “Crayon Beats”. AI is one of Tiffny’s favorite artists and that single is one of her favorite songs; it inspires her every time she listens to it. Just to give you an overall idea, the song is about having an infinite curiosity and living to the fullest. It really sums up what CB is about. We’re always looking for new music/art, finding new things that makes us happy and want to share it with anyone who’ll pay attention! We’re just doing what we enjoy–with no regrets or regards to whether or not people believe we can or should.

How did you two meet?

We met on Myspace, in 2006. There was a group for “Girls Named Tiffany” and we were both members. After chatting in the group, we realized we were from parallel universes and to not be friends would probably cause a rip in the time space continuum or something.

I sent in a submission. How come it hasn't been posted?

We are no longer accepting open submissions for the blog, seeing as how it is no longer active, so don’t take it personally that we aren’t posting your music. We’ll occasionally check out recommended artists for other things, though.

Where can I get an issue of the magazine?

Issues #1-#6 can be read for free, digitally, over here or here (all of those can be purchased in print at the latter link, too). Issue #7 is the only one that isn’t free–buy the digital or print here.

Where can I get CrayonBeats merchandise?

Visit our online shop here. We change it up with new designs every now and then, so keep checking back.

I have a business proposition for you, who do I contact?
