In September, the duo Our Helical Mind (Shep & Mash) dropped their second EP “Analogftw“, constructed entirely of live instruments. No samples, no laptop. Heavy dose of drums and hip hop grooves. It featured Duke01 and Dwyzak The Elevator (when they combine powers, they’re Non-Thespian).
Now, a few days ago, Waatu presented his reworked version of the 3-song EP. He ups the ante with erratic effects and grunge. He also pulled in Verbezerker (himself & Vig Vega) to hop on the third song, “BigDug”. Listen to Waatu‘s remixes and purchase it with the name-your-price selection.

Funkommunity is a newly formed music group (but they’re not strangers to music) from New Zealand. It began with soul producer Isaac Aesili (whom you might remember from his electronic project Karlmarx) and singer Rachel Fraser, who first met as members of the Recloose Live Band. Below, you can watch the music video for their first single “Pass It On”. It will be on their album, “Checkered Thoughts“, due for release in March 2012 via Melting Pot Music.

A newish addition to the Uncommon Records roster is DCK VNNGT (pronounced Dick Vonnegut). They’re a Portland, Oregon emcee/production duo, made up of Bloodmoney and Yunsloth.
If you copped the “Save The Horn” pop-up compilation that Uncommon did to raise money for famine relief in East Africa, then you’re already familiar these dudes. If not, now’s the time. Last week, as a prequel to their 2012 LP, “Bare Witness“, they dropped a free debut album, titled “MRDR DTH KLL“. Anyone else think of “Demolition Man”? Yeeeeeah, Simon Phoenix shit. Anyway, original production by these fellas, along with a Nasa remix of their track “Bombs Not Rations” (which also features ADAM [formerly Adam Warlock, who is also Nasa... remember?]), and a beat from Ormo on another track.
