Produced using more than 5,000 toy soldiers, “Made In China” is the re-imaging of the iconic photo by photographer Robert Capa. The original photo, of a Chinese soldier boy was used as the 1938 front cover of LIFE Magazine’s coverage of the Sino Japanese War.

As the meticulously positioned and painted toy soldiers are manufactured in China, the title  of the piece appropriately plays on the “Made in China”  concept.

The artist, Joe Black creates stunning visually stimulating pieces using unconventional materials. From toy soldiers, to LEGOs,  handmade badges, buttons, and even steel ball bearings his one of a kind portraits are awe-inspiring.
