These last couple of weeks, I’ve been listening to this sultry lady, Lana Del Rey. Born Lizzy Grant and in NYC, she titles herself as “the gangster Nancy Sinatra”. Her music seems to be rooted in the sounds of the ’60s, and floats in the jazzy pop genre. Of the three songs I’ve heard of hers so far, “Kinda Outta Luck” is my favorite — it makes me think it’d be heard in a Quentin Tarantino movie soundtrack. Check the official video of Che’Nelle’s Follow Me. It’s right on the money with today’s uber connected society. The song was originally recorded back in 2009 and was often referred to as “the twitter song”, but the updated 2011 version is just as fresh. Produced by The Studio Box, Follow Me is definitely a hit, even two years later. There isn’t much to be said about Ciao Bella, other than it’s made of two like-minded individuals from Rio named Jamel and Jamal. Sir Froderick and HeyJoshHey accepted the duo’s rough draft beat tape, then took some time to clean it up. The “LateNightThinkin’” EP was then uploaded to Soundcloud and Bandcamp to spread the sounds. If you lay down $5 or more, it will go towards bringing Ciao Bella to the states.
