Icarus Himself – “On Your Side”0

Started as a solo project by Nick Whetro in 2008, Icarus Himself eventually become a trio. Along with Nick, the band is also made up of Brad Kolberg (drummer) and Karl Christenson (multi-instrumentalist). Icarus Himself is getting ready to release their next album, “Career Culture“, which is third in an auto-biographical series (check “Coffins” and “Mexico“).
My first intro to the band is their single “On Your Side”. The sound of the song as a whole, kind of reminds me of Kurt Vile and Panda Bear. I really like the song, it’s a wonderful leap into psychedelic folk. Lead by crackling drums and a cinematic sound of organs, the song itself deals with love and trust.
