If you don’t already know, the California producer Dibia$e has a new beat tape. “Sound Palace” is a collection of tracks that he dropped in the Redbull Big Tune battles and some older stuff. Fresh soul sounds for those ears. I haven’t heard the whole thing yet, but DB hasn’t disappointed me so far (with everything he’s had his hands in producing for other artists, the Green Llamas, and his solo ish)! Head-nodder for sure. This is being independently released, so go support the man and get your hands on this asap. FRESHHHH new music video from Rey Resurreccion! “King of the Town”, produced by Chexmex, from Rey’s “Sleeping Giants” album with Clout.

Those Chosen is a hip hop trio from Southern California consisting of members Japetto, Kornbread and Foreshadow. They’ve performed at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival as well as A3C Hip Hop Festival last year, and have even been listed as one of URB Magazine’s top 25 artists to watch out for. Well recently, I was asked to give a listen to their some of their newest material and it just so happens that “Act Like You Know” was the one I decided to give a go. New video from Bambu! “Menacing Looks” features rapper Krondon (of Strong Arm Steady), over a Paper Son beat. You can find this song as a bonus on the re-release of “…Exact Change…” coming April 29th (on Beatrock Music). Remastered and reloaded! Eight bonus songs will be on a second CD, and it’ll be a limited release, so get it when it drops.

New video for Lykke Li‘s second single, “I Follow Rivers”, from her new album “Wounded Rhymes“. The video was directed by Tarik Saleh, and stars Lykke Li and a Swedish Lebanese actor named Fares Fares. The album is set to be released on February 28th.

It was brought to my attention by Taiwanese Dancehall Queen and CB friend Ruby Red Li (CrayonBeats interview here) that there was a band that she thought I should give a listen to. After checking them out, I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised. MATZKA is a Taiwanese band that’s doing their part to spread the love and soul of Reggae music. The band was founded in 2008 and is comprised of four members from two of Taiwan’s Aboriginal tribes, Paiwan and Pei’Nan: Matzka (vocals & guitar), Nanwan (bass & vocals), Mavaliw (drums & vocals) and Sakinu (guitar & vocals). As a Reggae band from Taiwan, their sound is very unique with elemental mixtures from genres like Jazz, Rock, Blues and Hip Hop. Recently signed to major label Phoenix Music International,  hopefully this can spread Taiwanese Reggae music to fans across the world.
