Formally known as W.E.B. & Syrenn, Jason James and Rodney Hazard (respectfully) released a few songs from their upcoming album The Marvelous World of Color (Aug 2010) about a week ago. The guys are going by their “government” names and with the name change comes a new sound. Without taking too much from the sound fans are used to, they have managed to add a new spin to their music, and at the same time, retain their musical integrity. So far, three tracks have been posted and are up for download (free); as expected, the tracks are on point, with smooth beats and lyrics to make you think. Often times when an artist chooses to change their style, something gets lost as a compromise, but based on these previews, nothing will be lacking on Marvelous World of Color. Check out  the three released tracks below, as well with links to connect with the guys. Anyone can already tell, just by listening to the teaser tracks that this is going to be another mind-blowing album.

If It Feels Right

While recording [..] Marvelous World Of Color, it became apparent to me early on that both myself and Rodney were creating a body of music that sounded like nothing we’ve ever made before. “If It Feels Right” was the first song we did where I felt like we had sonically created our own niche [...] I honestly feel like with this album I’ve pushed my artistic re-start button[...] –Jason James

Fame Us

This song summarizes the central theme of Marvelous World Of Color. [...] I’ve studied the media and their influence on western society. It’s a really scary thing when you disconnect from the program, step back and really see what’s going on, [...] how the media manipulates and uses people like puppets in order to distract the general public from the real issues at hand. “Fame Us” is a song that I wrote to hopefully give the listener an inside look at the whole idea of celebrity.–Jason James

GO

[...]Most people don’t have any idea what we go through as artists continuously being “on the verge” of achieving the dream of being able to make a living wage off of what we do. When Rodney first gave me the beat for “Go” I was looking for a way to vent and find some direction in my uncertain future and this beat was the perfect platform for that.–Jason James
