I got an email today with some information and a link to a track by this Haitian artist, Mr. OK. He is dropping his first release with Masalacism Records. The 5-track EP is titled “Men Mwen” (Here I Am), and the first track is called “Yaya”. It features Larose. The EP was released today, so if you like what you hear (link below), then check it out.

I’m not familiar with either artist, nor the label, so I’ll just let the information I received better inform you below.

It’s that time of year again, when NYC heads East and all things Japan are out in full force. While last April’s Sakura Matsuri (cherry blossom festival) at The Brooklyn Botanical Garden was lackluster due to our dear friend global warming, the Japanese Street Fair was in full affect. Now, this month kicks off with Japan Day at Central Park’s East Meadow, tomorrow,  June 6th, 2010. The festival will be ripe with free games, food, music and performances; New Yorkers can come and spend the day doing everything from learning traditional Japanese dance, to cosplaying on the green. Then, once the dusk sets in, anyone interested in Jrock should be sure to make their way down to the Studio @ Webster Hall for the second showcase of J-summit’s music festival. I’ve had this Arts and Crafts beat cd, “A Tribute to Jazz and Soul Music Vol. 1“, sitting on my laptop for about 4-5 months. I’ve been slacking on listening to music lately, but I finally got around to listening to this today. And let me tell you, it’s soooo fresh.

The man behind Arts and Crafts is Elusive. Finkle is Einhorn! Haha. Elusive is a producer/beat maker from Los Angeles. In case you aren’t familiar, he has also collaborated with the Living Legends crew back in the days. There wasn’t one bad, or not-so-good, beat on this joint. I received the album advance from him. I just got through listening to it, and it’s a real good album. It’s his first attempt to sell some of his work, and he should be getting some kind of money from it. Don’t you think? If you like his vibe, and like good beats, SUPPORT HIM.
