Bilingual rapper Sonny B recently released his 2nd PV yesterday for his track BounceJerk. The first version of this track was originally created immediately after Japanese Reggae DJ, AKAIDER sent Sonny a track by DJ KING TUTT titled “let’s go”. Already heavily interested in incorporating Bassline/B’more music into his style, the track was just what he needed to hear to get the creative juices flowing.  After it’s initial release, the song received lots of underground play at college parties, and fans started to press him for a longer, more energetic version. Always out to please the fans, Sonny delivered the goods, and shortly thereafter, the video was soon in the making. Directed by Ben Aguillon (of DualNRG) and edited by Sonny B himself, the PV is energetic, and fun to watch.

They can’t print what we paint. They print in pixels, you know. They mix colors optically; little dots. Blue and yellow together makes green, but we paint green. So it can make it a lot richer.

Up There” is apart of The Ritual Project — concept by Mother New York and sponsored by Stella Artois. It’s a captivating documentary that features a group of New York painters as they tell their stories about painting advertisements on buildings and walls – a dying art. The time that it takes, the precision, all the practice, the mentoring, the pain, and the hard work. In the air on scaffolds, they are equipped with paintbrushes, paint, harnesses, the open air, and peace of mind. The artists talk about the rarity of actual hand-painted advertisements these days, as vinyl ads have taken over.

I first came across the beauty that is Ebony Bones! in an URB magazine of mine. It was this little article with a picture of her laying on a couch. Her stunning face surrounded by a blonde afro, and the multi-colored foam rings that she wore around her neck and arms, drew me in. She was a vibrant color frenzy that caught my attention quickly. My eyes immediately locked in on her. I was interested in hearing her music right then. Well, a couple months passed and I had totally forgotten to check out some of her tunes… until a couple hours ago. The first track that I heard was “W.A.R.R.I.O.R.” and I loved it. In fact, I had it on repeat for about 20 minutes before I checked out another song. The beat is lead by a loud hand-clap rhythm, with a marching bassline, crashing cymbals, and loud chanting. It’s about anyone who has made it through any kind of adversity and made things happen for themselves. It’s brilliant!

Check out this little trailer for the running shoe, Nike Free Run+. It features the Japanese breakbeat duo, Hifana. The two are using the shoes to create music, and when I first watched it, I thought it was soooo ill. I also thought it was for real, and then the end of the video told me otherwise. They will not make music when bent or twisted, it’s just a running shoe. Awwww, man. Haha. Anyway, the video is cool… so watch it after the jump.

I heard this track by this guy named grooveman Spot (aka DJ Kou-G) today and was really digging it. The song is called “Affection”, featuring Ahu. It’s from his 2nd album titled, “Change Situations“, on Jazzy Sport, which dropped April 7th, 2010. I have never heard of him before, but from what I gather he’s a hip hop / experimental producer from Japan. And based on that one tune alone… I want to hear more! He’s remixed artists such as DJ Mitsu The Beats, Jazztronik, and Martiangang (all familiar to me!).

Check out the video and song for “Affection” after the jump…

I’m against penguins being locked up in prisons, but I’m for Penguin Prison. Penguin Prison is a pop electronic band lead by Chris Glover on vocals, along with Conrad Stern-Ascher on synthesizers and electric piano, and Ernesto Karolys on drums. I don’t know much about PP, but based on the myspace page, some of the influences include gorillas, penguins, instruments, and things. Sounds good, right?

On to the goods! This post is about their single “Something I’m Not”, out on Neon Gold. Below is the video for the song, so check it out. It’s all live action taken from footage of Skype conversations between Roman (BrentonLABS) and Chris Glover.
