Remember our interview with Canadian beat maker, Elaquent? Well he was just recently at the King of the Dot (KOTD) producer battle. He went against 27-year-old Secret Society, from Markham. Hosted by Ryan PVP and DJ Docta.

The samples they had to flip was Led Zeppelin’s “Over the hills and far away” and Nas’ “It ain’t hard to tell”. The third round were original beats.

The judges came to the conclusion that Secret Society won, 2-1. Below is the battle video, and also my thoughts on the rounds.

This is what I thought…
Round 1: I think Elaquent took this, hands down. While I was digging Society’s jazzy hip hop groove, I think eQ flipped that Led Zeppelin track in such a hard way. It knocked!
Round 2: Secret Society took this Nas remix, but not by much. It was hard for me to choose between the two, but Society’s was more pleasing to my ears. And yo, they both had piano sampling in their beats…
Round 3: I liked both beats equally. This is where I would’ve asked for another round, haha.

What do you think?
