So we’ve covered Kidd a few times here, and if you’ve been keeping up, the general consensus here is that he’s a pretty cool guy. He makes fun music and seems really down to earth. So we were interested when we found out about this new “give your significant other head anthem” from the Rudy Ruettiger Mixtape. At first listen, this track had both Tiffology and I laughing out loud. It’s a funny, tongue in …err..cheek? song about going downtown and it’s all about reciprocity, people. And Kidd makes no bones about his eagerness to please: “It’s in my DNA, I love TNA, I could eat it everyday like PB&J!”

So, yesterday I promised a review of God’s Favorites from WEB&I.D.e.A. A few weeks ago, I reviewed Waiting To Exhale and was actually quite impressed with what I heard. You guys know me, I’m more into R&B, Reggae and Pop, but I actually really liked the track. With that being said, I wanted to check out the album and I meant to post this review earlier today. Oh, yeah, and I recruited Tiffology on this review, because as our resident hip hop head, I wanted to see what she thought of the album as well. So without further ado, CrayonBeats reviews God’s Favorites. Check it.

A few days ago, I posted up a mini review of WEB & I.D.e.A’s “Waiting to Exhale”, a preview to the album ‘God’s Favorites. I really liked the feel of the song, as well as WEB’s lyrics, and I’m happy to say that God’s Favorites has dropped. The album, which is presented by Refined Hype, Rappers I Know, and Kevin Nottingham, features 10 album cuts along with 7 bonus tracks for a total 17 songs as their official introduction to their upcoming album “Marvelous World of Color” which is expected to debut this fall.
To download the free album, visit Refined Hype asap. I’m DL-ing my copy now, and will be back with a review once I give it a run through.
Remember our interview with Canadian beat maker, Elaquent? Well he was just recently at the King of the Dot (KOTD) producer battle. He went against 27-year-old Secret Society, from Markham. Hosted by Ryan PVP and DJ Docta.
The samples they had to flip was Led Zeppelin’s “Over the hills and far away” and Nas’ “It ain’t hard to tell”. The third round were original beats.
The judges came to the conclusion that Secret Society won, 2-1. Below is the battle video, and also my thoughts on the rounds.

Remember the 100 Mile DJ Run (for Charity Water) that I made a post about a little over a week ago? Well it has already begun. DJ Aristocat and DJ Sleeper are on day 3. If you’re following either of their Twitter accounts, or Sleeper’s blog, you’d know that. Swollen feet, blisters, covered in sweat, exhaustion kicking in, and in pain.
Check out a video from today, and a couple pictures from the journey below…

Reggae music, like other genres of music, knows no boundaries and speaks to everyone regardless of mother tongue. So it should come as no shock to you that it is starting to grow a stronghold in the Far East. Artists and musicians have gravitated towards this soulful sound, and by incorporating elements of their natural surroundings, have produced many flavors of what was once a purely Jamaican sound. Enter Koonta & Nuoliunce. As a duo, they are one of the very few musical groups in South Korea to have embraced and promoted Reggae…with a Korean twist of course.
So I came across this video by this woman named GloZell on youtube. Yes, that’s her with Bob Barker at the left. The video I watched was her chilling in her bathroom, on a Saturday night, spending time trying out the Nads wax hair removal product. I was laughing so hard during it. I decided to watch a few more videos to see her, because she’s funny. And I literally spent over a hour watching her videos.
GloZell is a comedienne, an actress, a singer, and a pianist. And she’s from California. Her name, GloZell, came from her parents’ names – her mother Gloria and her father Ozell. I also read somewhere that she attended Jay Leno’s show for 2 years straight, not missing a show. Until one of her blog posts had bothered somebody at NBC… or something. She then mentioned in the next day’s blog post about what they said to her after Leno’s show.
Videos and more after the jump.
