So about three months ago, a friend of mine suggested I fan this page on Facebook. There wasn’t anything much about it, but it’s name alone made me laugh…so like a good little Facebook addict, I fanned the page. Fast forward to the present day and I get an email telling me that Adopt-A-Guy has launched it’s beta site. Taking a look around I gotta say, I’m really interested in it’s innovative concept of mixing the two things we girls can’t seem to get enough of: SHOPPING and HOT GUYS. The premise of Adopt-A-Guy is simply put, a shopping mall for girls to find their “Prince for the night” or “Mr. Right”. Guys are allowed to register, but I don’t think they get to “shop around”. They’re more or less offering themselves as “goods” while the girls are allowed to view their profiles, put them in their “carts” and from there, initiate contact (messaging, sharing pictures, etc).
Now, the sight is still new, and I only signed up like less than 15 minutes ago, so I’m still tryna figure this thing out…BUT I’m pretty sure it’s as I mentioned. I’m guessing the points you collect (from profile visitors, referred sign-ups, etc) will be used to “buy” or “adopt” your guy…which probably just means getting his personal contact information or some other kind of special privileges.
I’m not really one for online dating, even though I’ve had friends who told me they’ve met some really cool people through dating sites (platonic relationships and romantically). Perhaps it’s because I’m a little shy, or a little paranoid that I’m gonna come across some crazy nut but I think I’m gonna give this a shot. Not saying I’m gonna throw caution completely to the wind…maybe to the fan-made wind. Besides it looks fun and I’m not seeing anyone right now. Even if all else fails and I don’t find a “Prince”, I could use the amusement.
Ladies, are you looking for a guy to “adopt”? Guys are you looking to get “adopted”? Check them out, and lemme know what you think…I’m interested in hearing how this sits with some other people out there.
