So about three months ago, a friend of mine suggested I fan this page on Facebook. There wasn’t anything much about it, but it’s name alone made me laugh…so like a good little Facebook addict, I fanned the page. Fast forward to the present day and I get an email telling me that Adopt-A-Guy has launched it’s beta site. Taking a look around I gotta say, I’m really interested in it’s innovative concept of mixing the two things we girls can’t seem to get enough of: SHOPPING and HOT GUYS. The premise of Adopt-A-Guy is simply put, a shopping mall for girls to find their “Prince for the night” or “Mr. Right”. Guys are allowed to register, but I don’t think they get to “shop around”. They’re more or less offering themselves as “goods” while the girls are allowed to view their profiles, put them in their “carts” and from there, initiate contact (messaging, sharing pictures, etc).

It’s that time again boys and girls. We here at CB haven’t done a group review since Rafael Casal’s Monster back in November.  This time around, we’re taking a look at alternative hip hop artist Kidd Russell. We here at CB haven’t necessarily heard much about Kidd, but after reading the press kit we were happily surprised to find out that he has opened for The Roots, The Flobots , Mr. lif , Common, and Uncle Cracker among others. His music video for his track Dear Shooter has been featured on both MTV2 and MTV Jams (they still have that show!?) and his second video has wrestling stars from both WWE and ROH (it’s also the ROH theme music). Sounds like quite a resume right? Well, after learning this, we jumped into his recently released EP with pretty high expectations (or at least I-Tiffny- did). Read on for our thoughts….

Ancient astronauts are said to be intelligent aliens that have visited Earth in ancient times and, by coming here, they are connected with the development of human cultures, technologies, and/or religions. With that being said, Kabanjak and Dogu make up the German hip hop duo, Ancient Astronauts. They are signed with Switchstance Recordings. Their sound is a mash-up of old school hip hop, downtempo, funk, and dub reggae.

Vanessa Upson, or better known as Violetness, is an indie pop/rock songstress in Chicago. She’s half Peruvian, and a California native who moved to Chicago to work on her EP. It will be a four-song EP, with a few remixes included, that will be dropped sometime around the end of January or the beginning of February. With very few songs recorded, there are two three tracks floating around online. You can listen to them on her myspace, or download them at the end of my post.

Rok The Spot is a two-man collective of artists living in Florida. They are equally handsome, talented, and cool. And did I mention that they are brothers?

Meet Flipz5 and Carlo$. They paint, draw, take part in photography, and even cut hair. You can see their work on clothing (t-shirts, hats, and shoes), bags, female bodies, canvases, munny’s, and anything else that they see fit. And Flipz5 agreed to let me interview him for CrayonBeats, so check it out…

Airto1

Posted by - In Music

I enjoy coming across random people who can sing well on youtube. This handsome, 24-year-old named Airto Edmundo Nicolaas, is an unsigned soul singer from the Netherlands. The first cover song I heard/saw of Airto‘s (pronounced uh-yeer-toe) was for Kings of Leon’s “Use somebody”. It’s a beautiful song, and he covers it well. Anyway, I’m going to share with you some goodies…

Remember that post I made with the guy making music by using the tree? Well this is just as cool. Jarbas Agnelli came up with an idea while reading his newspaper. He saw a picture of birds on the electric wires, and decided to cut it out and use the birds placement as music notes. Quite inventive, I thought.

Dr. Gimm on the Cyworld DMA red carpet

Hailing from South Korea, Gimm!박사 (Dr. Gimm) is a one man show. He sings, dances, produces, raps, writes, directs, and probably juggles sharp objects while sleeping. Yeah, he wears many a hat and what’s great about it all is, he wears them well. Late last summer I found myself listening to his single on repeat and then about a month later, I accidentally bumped into  him on Youtube trying to find out about another artist’s music; which he actually produced, unbeknownst to me. Coincidence? I think not!  Well, needless to say I was eager to interview this new artist/producer who just seemed to have come out of nowhere!  Thankfully, Dr. Gimm made some time in his soon to be very busy schedule to do this with me.  Read on in this exclusive interview for CrayonBeats,  and  get to know a little more about this upcoming talent, Gimm!박사!
