actheaderJust checked my inbox and noticed I had received some goodies: two songs from the label Animated Car Tunes.

First up, Georgia Anne Muldrow is releasing a new album on the label A.C.T. The album is titled, “Early“, and will be dropping November 10th. Keep your eyes open for that! Are you as excited as I am? I love her music!

Also on the label, is a singer named Adriana Evans. I’ve never heard of Adriana, but apparently she made her way into the R&B world in the late ’90s and early ’00s. Her second album, “Nomadic” (from 2004), is being re-released on the label, also on November 10th.

And here at CrayonBeats, we have a single from each album for your listening and viewing pleasure…

bludavidellis Remember seeing that awesome MUTO short-film, created by the artist BLU? It was passed around on the internet last year, or sometime earlier. Amazing stop-motion street art. Well now there’s a new one!

theslew Kid Koala, turntablist from Canada, hasn’t dropped an album since his 2006 release, “Your Mom’s Favorite DJ“. But now he’s back! Three years later with a new album titled, “The Slew“.

The Slew” is available for free download, since they’re doing The Slew tour this year. Who are they? Kid Koala, his friend Dynomite D, and ex-members from Wolfmother Chris Ross and Myles Heskett. Live drums, bass, keys, and six turntables… delivering 70-minute sets of raw guitar and fresh manipulated beats. Psychedelic rock meets turntablism, for a mind-blowing sound.

thecatpiano “The Cat Piano” is short film by The People’s Republic of Animation. It’s narrated by Nick Cave. Directed by Eddie White & Ari Gibson. Produced by Jessica Brentnall.

“In a city of singing cats, a lonely beat poet falls for a beautiful siren. When a mysterious dark figure emerges, kidnapping the town’s singers for his twisted musical plans, the poet must save his muse and put an end to the nefarious tune that threatens to destroy the city.”

It’s an all-around incredible video. From animation, to narration, to the whole mood/feel, to the colors used, and so forth. The link to the video is after the jump…

deltameone In the beginning of September, I read that Del The Funky Homosapien and Tame One were doing an album together. Whaaaat? Yeah, I was slightly excited. I heard one leaked track and couldn’t wait for the album, “Parallel Uni-Verses“, to drop October 13th. Be on the look-out for that.

And now… a video for the track “Flashback” is after the jump…

Spare Paint0

davidchoonglee-image I saw this video of David Choong Lee helping out a homeless man on the side of the street. He painted a new, colorful sign (pictured to the left) for him and just listened to his story. That, to me, is a good person. I like good people and those that reach out to help others.

I introduce you to a series called, Spare Paint. It featured two San Francisco artists named David Choong Lee and Brian Barneclo. They offered their talents to paint new, visually-striking cardboard signs for the men to use. And while painting the signs, the men talked about their lives and how they got there. Beautiful and touching project.

Below are the two-part video series featuring both the artists, brought to you by Walrus TV.

djsleeper DJ Sleeper, a turntablist from Los Angeles, has this nice little mix that I thought I’d post for you all. Well, not little. It’s a 10 minute mix of 18 songs. I’ve never heard of the cat until today, but this mix was a nice little introduction for me to him. If that makes sense. I’m not gonna type up a breakdown on who he is and all of that, but if you’d like one read his about-me on his site.

Tracklist, mp3, and a video after the jump… [Read More...]

flashforwardAm I the only one super amped for this?! I’m even more excited about this series than Three Rivers (and I love me some Daniel Henney). Flashforward is ABC’s loosly based TV adaptation of Robert J. Sawyer’s 1999 book of the same name. I just watched the teaser episode on Hulu and I’m very impressed. Right now, I think it’s safe to say ABC’s got me two for two (I’m addicted to Greek…we’ll discuss this later). Check the youtube version of the preview after the jump.
