Year One2

Posted by - In TV

YR1So last night, some friends and I made last minute plans to see Year One. It wasn’t as funny as I expected but I did LOL at most parts. Of course the story recounts events from the Bible, but they’re a little crazy considering it’s from Jack Black’s character ‘Zed”s point of view. Typical of Jack Black, there was a lot of wild eyed screaming, murmuring, crazy hand gestures and eyebrow rolls while Micheal Cera’s character “Oh” gave much of the cute-but-awkward, smart alec, doe eyed stare.

There were plenty of potty jokes, penis jokes, and just pure dumbness  that would make anybody 16-25 years old laugh, but after a while it got a bit old. I hate to compare it but Year One was really not that great…especially after I’ve seen The Hangover. I actually think I said ” I shoulda saw The Hangover again, instead” as I walked out of the theater…and my friends agreed. Hank Azaria as “Abraham” was pretty funny and David Cross with Paul Rudd as “Cain & Abel” were too, but laugh for laugh, I kinda left feeling disappointed. Maybe I’m growing out of my potty-humor phase but I wouldn’t recommend anyone spend 12 bucks on this movie. Seriously, wait ’til it comes out on DVD and then check it out. But in the meantime, I highly recommend going to see The Hangover. If you’ve already seen it, see it again.

Yeah, “Year One” doesn’t look incredibly funny to me. Like you said, a few LOL’s here and there… but nothing spectacular. I like Jack Black and I like Michael Cera, but I’m just not that interested in this movie. :| Might watch it when it comes out on dvd.

I really need to see “The Hangover” though.
