So yeah. Yesterday some friends and I were just riding around when we stopped at a red light and I saw this store called Breakdown Records…and I must get in there as soon as possible. Aside from the fact that I want that huge Jimi Hendrix poster in the window, the $2.00 vinyl sale sign is calling me.
In 2003, Emyli started her career in the Japanese music scene with her first album Flower of Life. Soon after, she began releasing several singles which included popular collaborations with artists such as M-Flo, Verbal and Shinwha. Her music is a mixture of pop and urban beats with a few ballads sprinkled here and there and like most talented young celebrities, she’s accomplished much within the short span of her promising career. If you ask her fans, and they’d probably tell you that Emyli is the most down to earth celebrity you’d ever know. They’d also tell you she’s got a great voice, and charisma to match.
She was kind enough to do an interview with me for CrayonBeats, and I hope you all enjoy it! On to the inteview:
Born Khalil Kinsey, but you’ll know him as Diz Gibran – emcee from Los Angeles, California. He’s the son of philanthropists and owners of one of the largest collections of artifacts tracing African-American history… Bernard and Shirley Kinsey. He was exposed to many different worlds. He was around all kinds of people, saw different ways people expressed themselves and made a living. That experience influenced him in many ways. Through him, he channeled his own form of creativity. He got into skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, graffiti, got involved with the Diamond Supply Company with friends, co-founded The Stevenson-Gibran Agency, and is now releasing albums as a hip hop artist. But, hip hop has been in his life since he was able to develop his own taste in music. He’s been emceeing since elementary school, so I’ve read. Now that you’ve “met Gibran“, in a large paragraph sort of way, I’m going to talk about his latest album.

Meet the purple bandit, Mikix The Cat, straight from Paris, France. Or as he calls his city, Crapcity.
Heavy bass is the driving force, along with some dubstep and funky house sounds. It’s definitely music that makes you move wherever you are! Mikix is a new addition to the Trouble & Bass (Brooklyn-based) roster of DJs/producers. His new EP, “Movin Around” dropped on T&B and you can listen to the tracks on his myspace.
Alright, enough talkin. Make sure you peep the free downloads after the jump…
While I was blogging for GirlyBubble, I had talked about FeetManSeoul several times. Just to catch you up, FeetManSeoul is South Korea’s very first online fashion magazine. I’m sure that now, there are lots of street culture/fashion sites online focusing on Korea; however, there are a few things that set FMS apart from other online fashion magazines. The first being it’s written in both Korean and English. That alone set it apart from any blog/magazine/site in Korea that’s remotely interesting because if you’ve ever tried it, navigating around the Korean internets can get frustrating if you don’t speak Korean, have a Korean SSI, or just plain aren’t Korean. Another thing that is great about FMS is the photography. Michael Hurt, the owner of the site, takes amazing photographs that not only capture South Korean street culture and fashion as it happens, but he somehow manages to capture the quirky personality and unique twist of each and every outfit. And after having us drool over the photos on FMS, he and his amazing crew have put together ANOTHER one of Korea’s firsts : The Seoul Fashion Report Vol.1
