lime-crimeI recently received some eyeshadow samples from Lime Crime Makeup and I thought I’d do a review of them. I used to be really big on wearing eyeshadow so I was really excited about checking them out. I chose to “test” the Magic Dust shadows in Diva, Nymph, and Elf.

Diva, which is a bronze shimmery powder would probably be my favorite. It went on subtley which I like because that means I can wear it during the day as well as at night if I chose. I accidentally spilled the little pot in my purse (didn’t screw the cap on all the way) and I was VERY sad, because like I said, it’s my favorite. Luckily there’s still some left. LOL

Elf is really pretty. It’s labeled as green on their website, but to me it looks like it’s amost got some blue in it. I like it. When I put it on, it was REALLY bright and vivid, so I had to dust a bit of it off. Altho I do like the way it looks, I’m not really into wearing bright eyeshadow…especially during the day. For the most part, Elf is amazing: shimmery, vivid, and wears throughout the day without creasing.

Lastly was Nymph. OH-MI-GAWD. This is some great eyeshadow. On the site it’s described as having sparks of gold in it, I liked that quality about it, because I already have white shadow…but for some reason I always neglect to buy gold.In the pot, it looks white..almost pearl like. But as soon as I put it on, I found that it magically turned gold. Not just little ‘sparks’… but gold. I love it. It also blends well with Elf, but again, it’s really vivid so I only used a litte of it.

Overall Lime Crime makes some really great quality makeup. I really like the fact that I could choose to wear them as sheer colors and, especially if you’re into makeup art, the Magic Dusts you’d probably love. I’ve even youtubed a few videos and some of the looks created with Lime Crime should be proof enough that this stuff is amazing. I definitely reccomend getting your hands on some of their cosmetics. Check out their site for their full line of products!

I remember looking up that Lime Crime chick (she’s beautiful), and looking at her site years ago… thanks to a girl named Shrinkle. They both sell great makeup/eyeshadows.

I like the picture of your eyes. I should get some Elf (and others) for me, seeing as how I love the color green.

Great post/review, even though I’m kind of late with reading it. Haha.

i have 4 of the limecrime eyeshadows and i found them to be quite varying in quality i have gold which is excellent, and a green purple and a dark blue which i wasnt such a fan of (they apply blotchy and crease easily once you build the colour up)

My biggest gripe of the limecrime eyeshadows is the little pots they come in, its too easy to not screw the lid on properly and the powder gets *everywhere*. Its very overpriced for an only average product – Barry M glitter pots are cheaper, you get more and its better quality.

My review was removed from her site, presumably because it didnt kiss her ass like the others?

Holly: sorry to hear that you didn’t like them. I do agree that the lids don’t screw on easily–which I stated in my review. I’m curious as to how you applied your colors because I’ve worn mine out to concerts and clubs (ie: sweated like crazy) and my shadows didn’t budge or crease. I haven’t tried Barry M. I should though because I’ve also heard great things about them.

I’m not going to assume that you’re implying I’m kissing her ass by actually liking her products “like the others” but maybe she removed it because the way you worded it? If it was worded tactlessly, then that could be the reason. Negative review or not, I’m sure she’d want the feedback, just as long as it’s not disrespectful.

I have limecrime in shoe addict, pompador, pink poodle, fairy wings, twilight, circus girl, cleopatra, and siren. I love them all! I think the colors stay on fantastically. I usually use them over an eyeshadow primer or foundation and really like the look when they are wet. As for negatives the only one I can see is that the lids don’t screw on tightly but as for that, I know she’s started using a different pot and lid so I don’t know whether or not the problem has been fixed. but as far as color goes, i’ve spent tons of money on bright eyeshadows from sephora and nothing compares!
