K'Naan0

Posted by - In Music

knaan He was born in Somalia (in Mogadishu) – a place where it topped Iraq and Afghanistan on Forbes magazine’s Most Dangerous Destinations, where nobody (children or the elderly) was safe, where it was lawless, and where 6-year-olds patrolled the streets with AK-47s. He is a Muslim. His aunt, Magool, was one of Somalia’s most famous singers. His grandfather was a well-known poet, which says a lot for a country called, “Nation of Poets”. He spent his childhood in the district of Wardhiigleey (“The Lake of Blood”) during the Somali Civil War.

He is an emcee straight from Somali.
Who is he?
He is…
K’Naan.

The Boy Can Sing1

Posted by - In Music

g-soul1

Yes he sure can! Who am I talking about? G. Soul is who. G Soul is signed under JYP and is supposedly R. Kelly’s “protege”. I don’t know about that, but he definitely can sing his ass off. Check out some  this youtube vid of him singing Steve Wonder’s Someday @ Christmas (yeah I know the holiday has passed, but I still like hearing him sing it.)

Kristen Lepore created this very cool stop-motion video. I used to love the game “Guess Who”. Haha. I wish it were longer than 55 seconds though; it’s thaaat good. The song is: “It’s Nasty” by Grandmaster Flash.

jessica1In case you didn’t know, I’m a fan of Korean music..also, it’s been some time since I’ve listened to any; almost a year! So you can imagine my surprise when I checked my inbox this morning and found that a friend of mine sent me a little nudge about one of Kpop’s good Bad Girls. I was even more surprised that it was Jessica H.o no less. I guess you can say I call her a “good Bad Girl” because she’s like the girl in your crew who is a sweet heart, but she’s always up to something, and you KNOW it’s going to lead to trouble, but you’re so down for the ride. Also, I guess you can kinda say that I didn’t expect Jessica to really recover from her mistake a few years back, but she did…and apparently Life is Good.

I KNEW IT!0

Posted by - In TV

uninvitedI didn’t even have to see the movie and I just KNEW that The Uninvited was a total remake *cough*rip off*cough* of one of my favorite horror movies. Which movie? Tale of  Two Sisters. I really think I’m going to barf at how all of a sudden Hollywood seems to have lost all creativity and they continue to “remake” and destroy some really great horror movies from the East. Cases in point: The Ring, Red Eye, and The Eye.

APTOPIX Obama Inauguration

The 44th president, speaking in front of the biggest inauguration crowd in US history, said: “Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and begin again the work of remaking America.”

An estimated 2 million people, wrapped up against the winter cold, many of them in place since dawn, filled the Mall to see Obama sworn in as America’s first black president. A big proportion of the crowd was African-American, many having travelled from across the continent to witness the historic moment.

It’s a great day in America. Is anyone watching the inauguration? Or were you there?

All the key players are there… in Lego form. This is probably one of the coolest, most detailed, thing I’ve ever seen created entirely out of Legos.
